Strollers’ Ground
The summer’s now well over, and rugby’s here once
more
Though fifty years we’ve seen go past we’ll still let out a
roar
And join the Strollers chorus we’ll throw off age I’m sure
In jersey decked with ‘69’ on rugby fields to score
For it’s Strolling adore
And still I live in hopes to see
Another Strollers’ score
The phone’s rung, you’re selected – on Saturday to play
The kids have said you’re barmy and the wife has said ‘no
way’
But your kit’s all hidden in the car, and you’ll escape for
sure
For still you live in hopes to see another Strollers’ score
And now the game is raging, old limbs and backs are
sore
The scrum’s come fast to its last gasp, through the line
their centres pour
But still the spirit moves us, to ruck and run once
more
And still we live in hopes to see another Strollers’
score
And now the game is over, with both teams safe and
well
We go into the clubhouse bar and sing and drink like
hell
We will tell our tales of games long past, then make
the rafters roar
And still we’ll live in hopes to see another Strollers’
score
